Teen Vogue's Pregnant Cover Girl

The idea of teen celebrities and their role as, well, role models is certainly one that gets debated every time Lindsay Lohan does something appalling - or Miley Cyrus dances on a stripper pole. Now it turns out that Jourdan Dunn (right), the 19-year-old model on the November cover of Teen Vogue is pregnant. She's not showing on the cover - and Amy Astley, the magazine's editor in chief, says none of the editors knew at the time of the shoot, but the pregnancy is described in the pages of a magazine, whose average reader is 18. "Teen pregnancy is a difficult, real-life issue that Teen Vogue readers are mature enough to be exposed to," Astley told the press. "Teen Vogue felt it was important to support, not punish, Jourdan Dunn."

OK, but I'm not entirely sure glorifying her on the cover of a major magazine devoted to teen readers was the way to go here... On the other hand, it isn't like this is Highlights magazine ...

Family advocates are suggesting that the magazine be used by parents to jump start conversations with their teenage daughters about the importance of safe sex and careful planning. Your thoughts?
