How awesome is this? A mysterious package addressed to Henry Walton Jones Jr. arrived at the University of Chicago admissions office last week, containing all manner of amazing things, including Abner Ravenswood's diary. It was a student who realized who "Junior" really is and now everyone's wondering, what? why? who?
Admissions officials posted all the deets on their tumblr page, and asked readers to spread the word and the pictures (yep, that's it to the right) as they try to figure out what this awesome thing is and why they got it. Latest update from them: "We have heard from Lucasfilm (nerd sidebar: OMG SO COOL) that this is not some type of viral marketing package for any upcoming Indiana Jones films or events." (That's their nerd sidebar, not mine, but I have to agree!)
Considering that this university is known for its unusual admissions essay prompts, I'm betting it's the coolest admissions bid ever because this year's prompts includes this one:
Essay Option 4. "...I [was] eager to escape backward again, to be off to invent a past for the present." -The Rose Rabbi by Daniel Stern
1. Something that is offered, presented, or given as a gift.
Let's stick with this definition. Unusual presents, accidental presents, metaphorical presents, re-gifted presents, etc. -- pick any present you have ever received and invent a past for it.
