Tufts, the same university that gave us the Dalton Academy Warblers – or at least their backing arrangements for the hit show “Glee” – injected more than a bit of whimsy into the college apps process. They weren't the only ones devising clever essay topics and asking for YouTube videos, but this year's Tufts topics included half-caf lattes and spam filters.
Meanwhile, MIT admitted its incoming math whizzes on Pi Day (3/14). And the University of Chicago, famed for its unconventional admissions essay topics, sent students an essay example in which a student compared the school to a beau, saying "Tell me, was I just one in a line of many? Was I just another supple 'applicant' to you, looking for a place to live, looking for someone to teach me the ways of the world?"
