College Apps Deadlines Pushed by Sandy

Best headline of the morning: The Columbus DIspatch's take on a Washington Post story: "But Sandy ate my college application."

According to the Washington Post, Johns Hopkins and several other universities have deferred their early admissions and priority deadlines, which are typically Nov. 1, to give teens in hurricane- or "superstorm"-affected areas without power, a chance to get their apps in Among the school pushing their deadlines to Sunday or Monday: Duke, the University of Virginia, Stanford, Yale, Dartmouth, Columbia, Cornell and Boston University. Others have said they will extend the deadline into next week. Check specific schools' websites for details.
