Parent Frets #102: Harvard Gets a Kinky Sex Club

By December 5, 2012

Follow me on:

Most college parents know full well that their kids are sexually active - or will be by the time they hit their 20s. But who knew that campus kinky sex clubs were not only new, they don't even raise eyebrows at schools like Harvard and Yale? (Clearly, us Californians are a prudish bunch; I'm having trouble retracting my eyebrows to a normal position.) According to Inside Higher Ed - which gets 10 points for the headline, "50 Shades of Crimson" - there have been BDSM (bondage, dominance and S&M) clubs at Ivy League and other East Coast schools, including Cornell, Tufts and Yale, for a while. And, the writer adds, "Sex educators say that's a good thing." The story goes on to explain why.

But really? Universities sanction these things? Adding to the OMG moment, according to the initial news reports from the Huffington Post, the Cambridge club's name is ... the Harvard College Munch.

Parents, help me out here. Am I a great big prissy, overreacting prude? Is there a kinky sex club on your child's campus? What do you think about this?
