Evergreen State College Description:
The Evergreen State College is a public liberal arts college located in Olympia, Washington, on a 1,000-acre campus surrounded by woods. The college has earned a national reputation for its innovative curriculum. Like Hampshire College and New College of Florida, students at Evergreen receive written evaluations from faculty, not grades. The curriculum is highly interdisciplinary, and students take a team-taught "program" centered on a theme, not individual courses. In 2009, Evergreen was one of only six colleges and universities in the United States to be awarded an "A+" by the Sierra Club for its green efforts. On the athletic front, the Evergreen State Geoducks compete in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). The teams at Evergreen primarily compete in the Cascade Collegiate Conference.
